Who We Are

TARAI INDIGENOUS PEOPLES & MARGINALIZED GROUPS DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH COUNCIL(TIP-MGDRC) is a non-governmental organization dedicated towards livelihood, prosperous health, disaster risk reduction, inclusive and well-being of poor indigenous and marginalized Nepalese people. TIP-MGDRC focuses on children, women, indigenous, marginalized and rural communities by setting holistic development goals in creating a transformed and interdependent society.

TIP-MGDRC envisions a new Nepal by positive transformation of socio-economic aspects of society and individuals through capacity enhancement and optimum utilization of local resources. From its inception, it works for Nepalese to produce quality lives and families for a safe environment with their dignity, respect, food security, income generating, health or security regardless of their gender, ethnicity and religion.

TIP-MGDRC is also committed to creating an enabling environment for building an equitable, peaceful and prosperous society through social, economic and political empowerment of the rural poor, particularly the poor rural women, peasants, landless indigenous and marginalized people and other disadvantaged and socially oppressed strata of Nepalese society. Therefore, besides implementing integrated community development programmes at the grassroots, it is also extensively engaged in advocacy, lobbying and networking at local, national and international levels to protect and promote human rights and social justice.

In this process, TIP-MGDRC has worked in partnerships with many national/international organizations including the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) and also the UN agencies like UNESCO, UNDP in Asia and the Pacific, UNESCO Bangkok and so on.

TIP-MGDRC is registered with the District Administration Office at Saptari (on 16 December 2020) as well as at the Social Welfare Council (on 24 December 2020). Since then it has been working in the field of community development. It is also a member of the NGO federation, Saptari. TIP-MGDRC has an office located at Aginsair Krishnasawaran Rural Municipality ward number 6, Nayabasti, Basantapur, Saptari, Madhesh Province, Nepal. The organization was founded with 11 members.
